Le Chat 3D nails by Susan Loasby - Le Chat Educator

One of the first things that drew me to the Le Chat powder gel system was the huge variety of colours and effects that were available to me. Besides it being a very simple system to master as well as durable in wear, the options open to the creative nail artist are unlimited.  In this step by step guide, i will show you how to acheive a striking  outcome with a simple technique.

You will need ;-

Clear tips
Le Chat gel cleanser/sanitiser
Le Chat base gel
Le Chat top gel
Le Chat Stardust powder [diamond sparkly dust]
Le Chat Element 3 dimensional gel in White
Le Chat Pretty in Pastel Glitter in Mint Julep
Le Chat Graceful Reflections irridescent flakes in Whimsical
Rhinestones
Nail adhesive
Cocktail sticks
Non stick paper

Step 1
Cleanse the hands with Le Chat sanitiser spray. Perform a thorough preparation of the nails, ensuring all non living tissue is removed. Carefully remove the shine from the natural nail and wipe all the nails  thoroughly with a pad moistened in sanitiser. Apply clear tips and gently blend the seam into the nail. Apply le chat primer on the natural nail only.

Step 2

Apply a thin coat of Le Chat base gel on the nails to within 1 - 2 mm of the surrounding skin. With a cocktail stick moistened with base gel, place the irridescent flakes on the nails as you wish. Gently sprinkle other areas of the nails with glitter. Cure in a 9 watt u.v lamp for 20 seconds.

Step 3

Apply a layer of le chat base gel over the nails, again being sure to leave a small margin to prevent the gel from touching the skin. Sprinkle the nails with the le chat stardust powder. Cure the nails for 20 seconds.

Step 4

Apply more base gel to the centre of the nails to build up a good apex to provide strength in the finished enhancement. Apply more stardust powder. Cure for 2 minutes. [I prefer to apply this stage to one nail at a time , curing each for 10 seconds to prevent the apex gel from leveling, and then cure the whole hand
for 2 minutes ]

Step 5

Using a 100/180 zebra file i refine the shape of the nails and follow up with a white block to remove scratches. Remove surface dust and cleanse with le chat sanitiser. Ensure no sanitiser gets on to the back of your clear tips as this may cause them to shatter.

Step 6

Apply a thin coat of Le Chat top coat gel ensuring that you seal the free edge. Cure for 20 seconds.

Step 7

Another thin application of top coat gel is applied as before. Cure for 2 minutes. Cleanse the sticky layer from the gel with Le Chat sanitiser.

Step 8

Prepare your 3d flower petals. On a non stick surface [ i use the backing paper from nail forms ] place beads of the Le Chat white Element gel and using a cocktail stick, tease the gel into a pointed oval shape. Cure for 2 minutes. Remove from the backing and drop the cured gel into a small amount of  sanitiser to remove the sticky surface. then dry on paper towel.

Step 9

Using nail adhesive, fix your petals on to the nails as you wish, accenting your design with rhinestones.
Finish the nails with a light application of Le Chat cuticle oil.
